roller door?????

just had a new roller door fitted to replace the old up and over.
I'm now getting water in my garage but not alot.
but I want to stop it altogether incase we have more rain for longer periods.
what is the best thing to use?
the old firm that I used to work for had manual roller doors..on the floor they had what look like 1/2 of rubber tubing fastened to the floor.this use to stop rain etc coming in but I don't know what you call it. any info would be great. cheers . john

We had two roller doors fitted, and got to say I've never been more disappointed, they are total rubbish and the garage always leaks. I actually drew a line where the door sat on the concrete, and added a small slope/run whatever you want to call it, so that any water ran away from the door, total waste of time. my only possible solution is to add an inch to the garage floor, it's about the best I can come up with.

AND the doors are cheapo and easily broken into!

Yes, I get the same. I was going to cut a slot in the concrete along the front of the door and drill down through the concrete in several places along the bottom of the slot.

I'd also like to find a seal for the bottom, partly to keep the air leaks at bay.

Be careful slotting and drilling drainage holes in the concrete you don't want old Jack Frost freezing the water and cracking your nice drive

Depending on the run off you could either cut out the concrete and let in sections of the slotted drains you can get from any good builders merchant or do as we had to do with one of my sons.

He had the same problem, the previous owner of the house had the drive resurfaced.

We found the quickest way, which has worked well was to Stihl Saw a 6" wide channel to the depth of the drive foundations, the length of the drive in front of the door, back fill with concrete, then using some 3" dia drainpipe as a former make a semicircular drainage channel.

There was no drain nearby so we gave the channel a fall towards the garden, dug a 3'x3'x3' pit, filled with gravel to act as a soak-way.

His is an up and over with the usual wind blowing underneath, his solved this by finding a local industrial roller shutter / door fitters and cadging some rubber section they use for the purpose.

I think a few beer tokens changed hands

the rol/door .. I'm very pleased with it..good quality and strong.
this door would have cost me £1200 but because it was a back hander(no receipt)
got it fitted for £700.
already got a channel but the water can't get away quick enough so a bit runs into the garage.maybe a length of rubber tubing fitted to the bottom of the door should do the trick.

I know it's not ideal, but why not just mastic a 2" x !" wooden batton to the floor inside the bottom edge of the door also sealed at each end, to act the same as a thresh wood on a domestic door, Should not present any problems to taking motor bikes in and out,

My sectional door (Hoffman) had a rubber strip along the bottom and never lets a drop in.

Its a bit like a strong pushbike innertube with a flat top, I would say about 30mm dia, when the door lowers it presses it to the ground slightly.

I should think it is a common enough profile, just needs finding with the old Google.

I used a rubber door seal off of an old Fiat that was going to the scrappy. It clipped onto the bottom rail of the garage door and sits hard against the concrete when shut. Nice and cheap!
