Thanks fella's...... Not really too worried about cost would rather spend once than use naff stuff that needs replacing pretty soon at the cost of any rods inside that may be ruined too. Thanks for all your input chaps

I keep them by the wood burning stove, all nice and toasty warm, and dry.

The blue "rod guard" ones from Rapid are far better than the yellow Saftube ones.

Well worth the few pound extra on the asking price.

I got the name wrong, it's Safetube not Saftube.

Rather than a seal which is trapped by the end of the cap which needs to be on properly in order to seal they have a large O ring that the cap goes over as it's tightened, so it gives a great seal without ever needing to be tight - or even fully home.
Quite strong as well.
