Hi everyone, I recently bought an Arc welder and rather than practicing I thought I'd build a Rocket Heater (so don't look too closely at the welds
).
The project started out using a single 11kg gas bottle and cans for the burn chamber (as they were cheap and slotted together) and gun gum to seal the gaps.

This didn't last very long as I didn't trust that the cans would handle the heat and managed to get a length of 100x100mm box section.

The burn chamber with mineral wool and aluminium tape.

A test burn to check that it works and the insulation doesn't burn.

How this heater will look.

Then managed to “adapt” the orange gas bottle so that it wouldn’t seal against the base (I got a little over the top with the angle grinder) so the burn chamber was rehoused into a 19kg bottle.

The finished heater waiting to be painted/installed.
