road tow compressor questions

Got a compair c25 with a 3 bag centurywise blaster, really happy with the quality of the blast pot and all the equipment i have got, but the compressor is letting me down at the minute.

I am using superfine glass media and the 'watery' compressor is affecting the flow of the media.

is there anything in the compressor that allows you to release water, like a filter or a trap?

i do use the water seperator that came with the blast pot and always leave it slightly open.

With road compressors they need to be running for some time to burn the moisture off. I run mine into a 47kg propane cylinder then through a 3/4bsp water trap and I never have any issues using chilled iron and as long as I don't open the door the stuff saty rust free even if left for days.

I have a Clemco blast pot but I have not used it yet so I can't comment on that.

I would have thought the trap would need to be shut for it too work properly. The one I use is an auto drain so I have a ball valve infront of it. Once the pressure drops it drains so I am able to achieve that by turning off the ball valve. There is far more moisture in the initial phase when using a road compressor

all I do with mine is run it all connected at 3/4 speed for 10 minutes max without running the grit. when the whole lot starts to get hot a lot of water passes through then its nice dry air and your ready to go and will run all day water free

, my eldest lad found it in a hedge on a walk when he was about 11. Dragged quite some way to the road and then insisted that mum take the Disco to collect it. 1973 vintage so who knows how long it had been there

they need to warm up, when they stat warming up all the water theyve trapped come out to play, once there hot the pipes ect get hot and the air is dry and if there is any moisture in it ti cant condense out anyway

Sorry gents i dissagree.
My compressor has a aftercooler for the discharge air and then it is put through a refrigerated dryer. When it is running the amount of 'water' coming out from the compressor water drain is quite impressive coupled to that the amount of water condenses out from the refrigerated dryer is even more so. It ultimately depends upon the humidity of the day, but moisture will condense down the hoses and if it doesn't cause blocking in the blast pot, it will form a mist at the nozzle and end up on the job. For me better to be safe than sorry, or take the risk as you may not get away without problems
