I have mainly used MiG on vehicle body repairs my friend last year had by his sponsors of his steam rocket motorcycle use rmd welding on his larger stainless pressure vessel it saves purging of certain stainless pipe etc.

How well does it work (without back purge), and does it work any better that other pulse short circuit transfer modes (eg STT)?

For that matter, how does it compare with other pulse technologies? There are several interesting technologies, for example from Fronius and EWM.

No offence intended, I wondered if you lived in a very fast boat with no fixed mooring.

I would be interested to see that.

I asked about the alternatives because I believe the reduced purging requirement is due to the reduced agitation of the puddle compared with short circuit transfer. Many of the other pulse technologies share the reduced agitation.

Machines that are capable of those technologies are quite expensive (for me) so I can't easily give them a try.
