rip off wholesalers

yesterday needed a shnieder 20 amp rcbo 3 wholesalers all charging over 40 quid toolstation retail got one for 22 quid inc vat and they say theres not much proffit in it the lying gits

A lot of wholesalers will do that on certain bits, especially to account customers

I used to get charged a fortune if I needed a flue elbow at short notice, they know you need it so they have your pants down

I have a Travis Perkins cash account which is supposed to guarantee that the price you are quoted on one order stays the same for subsequent orders. I have been buying 215mm hollow concrete blocks at £1 a piece +vat to build my retaining walls, I buy 200 at a time as that is the most I can get on the tractor trailer at a time to get up the hill.
Went to order another 200 blocks and as always I got them to confirm the price, its gone from a £1 to £1.74 a block in the space of 2 months, when I queried it they said I had been buying the old stock, the new stock was more expensive. 75% more expensive???
Rang round and got a price of £1.19 from Jewsons.

I was responsible for electrical purchases at one company, phoned a wholesaler about some 20mm conduit, they quoted a price then said of "course that's less 82% discount" who comes up with these figures?.

I totally agree, I get 98% off the List prices of cable from 3 different wholesalers, madness.

I can remember 20 years ago someone showing me that the list price for an ordinary box of 200 2" No 8 woodscrews was about 16 quid, when the actual price anyone would pay was about 2 quid.

Almost everything to do with the supply of building materials is steeped right through in the most penetrating form of stupid.

That's how companies have a value of £xxxxx billion, cos they have stock to the' value ' of xxx irrelevant to the muppets that they can't and don't sell at that value,they just see the list value

I don't think that's how the value of stock is usually calculated - as you say, it would just be a made up number.
