Noticed a few "oldies" and some rockers on here, so just a quick reminder that the legend Jimi Hendrix was taken from us 40 years ago today.. dig out your Vinyl, CD's or MP3's and remember what a top guy he was...

Yeah and he was a lefty playing on a right hand guitar...now try that! lol, i already find it difficult to get any sound out of the thing the normal way!

Maybe I ought to try that as I'm rubbish at playing a right-handed one right-handed!
There's so many dead so-called legends who, to be honest, didn't have a great deal of talent but just either caught a lucky break or had a face that fitted but Jimi Hendrix was genuinely talented and in my opinion was a true legend.

Sorry, i thought it was the monument but ti was his headstone (even worse me thinks).. here is a better explanation..

His headstone was wrong because it shows a picture of Hendrix playing a Stratocaster, but the Stratocaster is right-handed, Hendrix played left-handed

He could play either right or left, strung either way..., and my switch from left to right was anatomically enforced by a drunk driver - took over 3 years to re-learn what I already knew - his career spanned less than 3 years

Let his stupid demise be a warning to all drug dabblers.

A stupid death caused by a stupid thing. for heavens sake he was booked in to play with Miles Davis a few weeks later, that might have changed the world.

Many years back I was spaced out and trashed and heard the most terrifying anti drug song of all time.

Weird, I just went onto amazon to order this album, no mention of this song. I know a few other old fogies who remember the song, One of you guys must have it on CD, any chance of a copy?

Twer on the original vinyl version of The Folk Lore of John Lee hooker, a great Baaad trip song.
does not seem to be on the Cd version.
I am wary of compilation albums of old blues artists, most of the are full of duuff versions of classic songs.

What Rory Underwood? He weren't bad but it's guitarists we are on about

I hated Taste at the time and then Rorys shouty flat vocal style. Tell you what though ................I have revisited a lot of stuff and he aint half bad.

I love it when Hendrix slows it down too. Could write a mean song as well.
