Riello burner drowned!

My elderly neighbour had a flood in his boiler cupboard when the water softener pipe burst, the boiler stopped working and he couldn't get it going again so I had a look.
I fixed the knackered pipes and looked at the boiler, the boiler is situated two steps down from ground level and had been under about 10" of water! Who the hell would do that?
The oil pump motor and control box had been soaked with no sign of life at all.
I took the covers off and found this,


He had already put two new 5amp fuses into the fused spur and had blown.
I think the cost of a new control box, pump motor, solenoid plus anything else that's bugged will outweigh just buying a new burner. What's the consensus here?

It's a RDB2.2 Vort 21.
Has anyone got one for sale or know somewhere that does?

The guy we use to service and fix ours carries a load of fully built secondhand spare pumps. Is that an option? There must be some out there.

Thing is the pump and circuit board at least have been under water for a few hours. The whole boiler needs striping out and replacing really. But not when it's -7°.

not entirely true that board tells me its been underwater before and then reused as normal

keep the burner it has parts if you want to play around with something else

but as its so far best to find another or find parts to repair what you have they do exist but your going to be swapping alot of parts as close to buying another unit

Exactly what I thought, It's gone green !

My burner was full of water, stripped, cleaned and back up and running next day. The control box was dry. Surprisingly the motor bearings still sound fine, we’ll see how long for.
So, strip and rebuild and a new control module?

I think it was a flexible pipe that split. I've capped off the ends of the copper pipes now.

I've seen them, I'm not doing the job but want to help if Imran find one nearby new for sale.

Anyway his plumber has found a recon burner that should be here tomorrow so hopefully he'll be sorted soon.
