respirator..

I have an extractor on my welding bench that is removing much of the welding fumes but what type of respirator mask should I be wearing, I have had lung damage from phnemonia after a cardiac arrest so I need to take care of my lungs, I have welded a couple of times without a mask but I can feel my lungs are a bit heavy.
what do others use/recommend ?

P4 type masks are suitable for metal fumes. you might have to try a few till you find one that fits best fior you i use 3M the type that has two straps that can adjust the fit

As MK says, 3M P4 are pretty good. Won't break the bank.
An alternative, and probably cheaper if you are using lots of the disposable type, is to get a respirator with the replaceable cartridges; select the correct cartridge for metal fume. We use Sundstrom ones that are great.

I have been using an air fed system for a few years, cant fault it and just bought an Adflo system which is probably the best you can buy but it is expensive. When you spend 10 hours a day welding you need it
