Hi,
I've got a couple of questions about rose joints..
I recently bought a short shift kit for my 944 for three reasons. One, the original mechanism had worn considerably and there was a lot of slop in the gear shift. Two, I fancied shortening the gear throw anyway. And three, a short shift kit was considerably cheaper than an OE part.
Anyway my kit arrived and I noticed straight away the rose joint was poor quality. The the ball swivel part that moves was very loose and you could actually see a gap between it and the main body.
I fitted it anyway, but as expected it hasnt made much difference.
So, I was going to attempt replacing the balljoint with another.
Heres what it looks like..
Trouble is I've got it all fitted, and dont want to take it off to find out wat size the balljoint is as its quite a hard job.
and compared to the original
So if I remove the bolt that secures the rose joint and measure it, (which is much easier) can I be certain of the size of the joint? (I guess im asking- are the threaded parts always the same as the hole size).
This way I can order one and only have to remove the whole lot once.
This is the kind of rode joint i was thinking ..
