Replacement torch for newbie

Hi,

I was just about to try some sample welds but unfortunately found that my MIG welder was not working. On examination I have found that the Torch Liner was badly kinked in 2 places, thus stopping the wire from feeding through. Torch looks like a cheap one.
As the torch connections are not the Euro type I am considering changing the torch to a Euro fitment, with an adapter fitted to the machine.
The machine is 140 amps and uses 0.6 or 0.8 wire.
Can someone please advise as to what sort of torch I should buy. Also, does the size of the torch matter, i.e Parweld MB15, 25 or 36. What is the differences in these torches?

Hi Delboy, MB15, 25 and 36 is basically the current capacity of the torch at 60% duty cycle, Mb15 - 150A, 25 - 250A, 36 - 360A. For your machine you wouldn't want anything bigger than an MB15. A conversion isn't cheap though, is the welder worth spending money on? What machine is it and how old? A torch service kit isn't expensive.

for the berlan machine then?, if yes i would just get the service kit for it or evan a ne standard torch, pm weldequip for torch parts

Hi,
My machine is a Berlan MIG140. It was brand new about a year ago, but wasn't used due to illness.
Unfortunately, I haven't found anyone that can supply the plastic covered liner yet. The liner passes through a crimped, threaded ferule where it enters the gas valve, then exits the valve as a 6 inch length of wire wound liner.

Any advice as to a supplier of such a liner, or should I renew the torch etc?
