Replacement panel

Hi guys just a quick question I've got some replacement panels for my old merc. I presume it's primed. Now the question is do you get rid of the paint and repaint it and what do you go with the back of the panel do you top coat it before welding it in? Thank you for all the help.

I would , as paint on panels is transit paint prep is very poor , strip back and re-prime . Rear of panel I epoxy primer .. Hope this helps

Then if you want over the epoxy when panel is welded in blast some waxyol or gravitex stone chip ...

It's a wheel arch but I'm gonna see how much I'm going to cut off and how much of the original panel I want to leave.

As I do with my vw beetle is try and leave as much of the og panel and use as little of the repo panel as I can .
