I’ve been asked to fix some broken welds on my friends trailer and was just wondering the best way to go about it?
It basically two pieces of small box section where they meet at the corners of the frame.
It’s made of mild steel and is galvanised and around 2-3mm thick. I will be using a mig welder. What size of wire would be best for the job?
Is it best to grind the original welds flush and then create a slit with a thin cutting disc before welding?
I will be required to do a vertical weld on part of the inside of the frame. It’s where it meets at one of the corners. The metal is pretty thin so would I get away with just spot welding it vertically?
