Repairing plastic petrol tank

I found that HDPE is very hard to bond without the proper and expensive adhesive.
Not worth the hassle if it fails on you....

I have another use in mind that doesnt invovle petrol and no issues if the repair fails...

Does anyone know the output pressure of a standard fuel pump?

Tank appears to be hdpe from what i can see stamped on it...managed to get a replacement for a tenner but would still like to repair this one if possible

Soldering iron and cable tie, it'll give you a bit of plastic welding practice

Why not just spend another tenner and get another tank without a hole in it, if your not using it as a fuel tank it clearly isn't going on your car so any tank would do so just buy the cheapest available.

Because i like to use what i have, i dont have to waste a tank that is fine apart from one hole and i dont have to spend more money

HDPE has an amazing ablity not to stick to stuff, GRP resin wont stick to it , Tiger seal/ sikaflexwont stick to it nor anything else ive tryed

....but a piece of mesh melted in with a soldering iron will....
