repairing combine points....badly

hello.. first project ive put up!

We mangled up a point in the combine last year, it got put in the front on the cutter bar while going down a road and never got took out when the combine started up

anyway finally decided i'd have a go at fixing it and heres how it ended up. (must say first of all i am 18 years old and have been welding for about 6 months tops)

I found a piece of old gas pipe that fitted snugly inside the tube of the point so used that.

Its nearly straight!!

The welding table my sealey roll cab with the biggest peice of sheet steel i could lift dumped on top

Not upto the standard i see on here but its strong enough and doesnt look too bad in real life.

Its getting there..

Thank god for good quality hacksaw blades (sandvik sweeden)

Ahhhh good old dividers done one or two myself With the ones for the 30' biso headers now being 1K a set its surprising how many now come through the door Its never easy getting the buggers back to the original shape slightly out of true and they hit the bloody reel..... well done

Ohh Class Dominator per chance?? or is that Detuz Green

(Deutz green is a tad darker...)

But yeah i know sadly not really got anyway of bending it apart from maybe using the vice in the pics. And as that was the only suitable bit of metal i had at the time i didnt really want to end up with it kinking or messing it up

Ohh Fahr with an H not a U knew I was wrong some ware with that spelling I rebuilt a shaker shoe once on a M*** something many moons ago... not a very nice machine.... with my engineers hat on Id rather have a rotary over a conventional any day of the week.....

hehe, yeah that's why i mentioned it...
Over here we have loads of Claas, JD, International...mighty machines!
2 years ago we had 2 big Claas combines at work on the same field, it was getting slightly darker so they put on all their lights....that was sooo awesome to see!!
