removing sikaflex from skin

so, my father in his infinite wisdon has somehow managed to cover his hand with sikaflex...i dont know how, but thats never stopped him.

so, suggestions for removal? he has tried isopropyl, various paint thinners and good old fashioned soap...nothings moving it

In my experience, if acetone won't touch it, just leave it.

Acetone and brillo pads may work ?

Just leave it, as the skin dies and regenerates it will peel off.

Normally mechanical means are the only way to get it off, not ideal on skin.

Anyway, that's just my experience.

dont think he has acetone, i have run out as well. i did suggest brake cleaner.

Doh!

so, turns out, he has been using it as a sealant/adhesive to line the inside of his shed roof with polythene sheeting (dont ask, its the 4th round of fixing a leak that could be easier fixed from the outside). he has been putting globs of it on the holes before using rivets to secure bits to the roof then putting a glob over the rivet as well...im literally off next week to help fix this leak properly but as usual, he cant wait

White spirit shares considerable chemical overlap, in terms of solvent properties, with Sikaflex Remover 208. There's no mention in the Sikaflex Remover instructions of using the product on skin, though. Using white spirit would be a slow process. Just let the skin "grow it out" You might be able to peel bits off from time to time, usually after doing the washing up, or having a bath.

oh...he has gloves...he has about 15 new sealed boxes of nitrile gloves...he is the same when he is painting...gets covered in 2k every time.

havent seen the job yet, going round tomorrow so will poke my head in the shed and then probably realise its probably for the best that i wasnt part of it

If it's not fully cured then lots of the painters or mechanics wipes work the cheapest option is dashboard wipes, no idea how the guy who told me about that found out but they work a treat

The ONLY way that is coming off is it is going to wear off. Sorry, but that is the reality of it. I have seen this before and that was it.

If he puts on a pair of the gloves for an hour or two he may find that the staining starts to come out of the pours on his hand due to sweating and can be washed with soap and water or as I think you have said he is into wood working then rubbing his hands with some fine sawdust/powder may lift it off.

I'm +1 with @northwest if it's anything like the residue of expanding foam it'll wear of when he washes his hands after a couple of days it'll start coming of the hotter the water he can stand the better . I can't go near expanding foam or glue without black hands for days .
