Removing glued on window winder

A previous owner has glued on a car window winder with PU adhesive, has anyone got any ideas of how to unstick it that they know works? It’s a bit tricky as the door card is vinyl so heating would have to be pretty direct onto the handle. I don’t think I could get any solvents in and was thinking I’d probably have to drill and cut the handle off but thought I’d ask for ideas first?

Rightio will give it a go. Don't think my soldering iron would be much chop but maybe a small tip in the oxy torch and a wet rag at the back.

if its not valuble /rare how about trying to crush the handle with some molegrips then fit a fresh one

I have some spares so wrecking it isn't a problem. Thinking about it I have a nicer door card to put on as well so might not be an issue if I do damage the door card.

wind the windows halfway down get someone to grab the window to stop it moving

heat the handle and twist and pull at the same time the plastic will melt and slip off

or drill a hole so you can see the metal bit and heat that direct and do the same twist and pull should slip off just need to leave it to cool before picking off the left over bits

Cheese wire connected to a 12v battery would make a hot wire cutter

dremel with a slitting disc or angle grinder as you have a spare handle and door card

What car is it?

Most keep fit windows used to be a splined shaft with a plastic handle fitted over and secured with a screw. If you have a spare handle, as this is probably whatwas originally broken, I'd cut/hack it off the shaft. you main problem would probably getting the old glue off the metal shaft.

Splined with a pin arrangement to fix in position. Handle is metal. Just had a look and is actually the door level that looks glued.

Could you drill a hole in the center of the round bit of the handle, tap it then wind a pin in to push on the shaft to withdraw it?

Came off quite easily with a bit of heat from the oxy torch.

I was going to suggest heating it up,with a hair drier. I have just separated a rail from a rifle action that somebody araldited together. The screws were stuck in too, the wife's hair drier did the trick

Hairdryer is acceptable. Cleaning engine parts in the dishwasher, baking enamel parts in the oven and washing grease covered clothes in the washing machine all are no nos apparently...
