I think I read about this technique here somewhere, so I thought I would try it on the door hinge machine screws which I had to drill out (leaving well rusted in studs). It worked very well indeed and I think the heat generated also helped too! Below shows how I removed the studs;

That trick got me many a seized drum brake adjuster free in the past, they used to have a small square head that people rounded off with mole grips instead of using the proper tool.

Yup, has worked for me also. If you can't get the nut close enough to the rusted bit (ie, it only has a threaded section at the end) I typically drill a small hole right through and then fill it with weld.

You can take bearing cages out like that, weld round cage as it cools contracts & drops out
