remove ink from table top

got what i assume is a varnished wooden table top

someone (me) left a chip bag on there , the writting from the outer bag seems to have steamed through from the hot /damp chip bag and left a print on the table top

tried a quick wipe with white spirit and panel wipe and no use

any ideas ...thinking maybe dust it over with a steam iron?

Make a paste from baking soda and water, put it over the ink, let it sit a short time, wipe off with a damp paper towel, repeat until the stain has gone. Read it in a book, so it must work!

Don't try Meths, it will soften the varnish, ask me how I know !!!!

Get some furniture restorer from the likes of screwfix / tool station. It comes in a 500 ml bottle and isn't too expensive. Cleans most varnished surfaces without damaging the varnish
