remove gloss paint from brickwork

got super old gloss paint slashed on my brickwork from when the council painters glossed the downpipes , rough red bricks

i see various suggestions online , what does the forum say ?

brewers do it,or did,you'll have to kid on you're in the trade though,or find a friendly painter/decorator
yes it will remove your skin

How much to remove?

Brick acid - hydrochloric. I beliwce that will strip most paints whilst not really touching the bricks.

DCM stripper is best for automotive paint but a bit over the top for household type gloss, I think.

how much? not alot just sloppy work around gutter brackets and the odd splash here n there

Had tenants a while back who thought it perfectly reasonable to paint the exterior walls of their first floor maisonette a very vivid green ! Fortunately the let was via a housing association so clean up was their responsiblitiy as it was not easy. In the end they had Dulux formulate a stripper that wouldn't affect the plastic downpipes or window frames but it cost an absolute fortune. Great relief that it wasn't a direct let !!!
