Relay reqd?

Morning all

I want to upgrade the horn on my 2017 Renault master as the existing one sounds like a cat fart!

The fuse in the fuse box say it should be 15a (although for some reason it has a 10a in it)

I wanted to run a pair of snail horns (not the compressor type)
But I wondered if I would need a relay installed. I know this is usually good practice but as the amp draw would be relatively low I was hoping I could just split the original wiring and wire a pair of horns in parallel?

Any electricalists out there help please?

A Stebel Nautilus will run directly off your loom and you won't need two of them.

Thanks Fella, but doesnt a Nautilus have a built in compressor? I have read that it can draw 18a, wouldnt that be a problem?

I've used them on several bikes and never had a problem. The Suzuki especially had quite thin wires to the horn.

Thanks all.. I dont know what to do now!

Put a small fuse in, if it blows go bigger, until you get to the recommended size. If that still blows you need a relay. Remember, the fuse is to protect the wire, not the horn.

A horn is usually only on for a second at a time, so it’s not like you’ll build up loads of heat in the loom etc.
