Next it will be lead/acid batteries with copper terminal posts? In the meantime, I’ll just have to stick with lead terminals, I suppose.

When I have replaced the batteries on the tractor & skid loader, they are group 31 size so I buy the version with studs,
and remove the lead terminal, crimp a copper terminal on the wire, much less problems with corrosion.

The whole point of proper battery terminal post connections, is for the connector to have a decent contact area between connector and post. With the design linked to in the original post, a few strands of wire make contact with the post, plus the back end of the connector. Save your money, and get a proper clamping type connector.

And having to pack it out with silver paper to get it tIght, also giving it a twist so it made contact properly

You mean thimble shaped with a hole in the end like a tiny lead plant pot? Haven't seen one for 30+ years but yes.

If you're going to clamp the cable to the battery post you might as well use a jubilee clip. It wouldn't be the first time I've done it to get some POS going.

Looks to me like the edges would snap if you clamp down hard...assuming its solid copper (which I doubt)
