Rehmann lg 40 plasma cutter instructions

hello i have just bought the above plasma cutter from fle bay cheap, but it has not got any instruction so i dont know how to use it proberly
can anyone help by telling me were i can get one from or scan there copy and send it to me, i really want to use it but i i have never used one before and i want to check i am doing it right,

also reading other post on here about the cutter, the plug is a 2 pin not 3 and looks like it has NO fuse, i i will replace it with a normal uk plug with a fuse,

Welcome to the forum. If it has a two-pin plug make sure it will work off 240 volt mains

Hi,

I'm not familair with that model but my Berlan 40 is probably very similar.

First point, if there's a bare nut where you screw the torch to the cutter then be aware there can be several thousand volts on it. I covered mine with a bicycle handle-bar grip but I still make sure the power's off before connecting or disconnecting.

The air flow is between 2 and 4 bar, and the power is between 20 and 40 amps.

So I reckon on 2 bar at 20A, for 3mm mild steel;
3 bar at 30A for 6-8mm
4 bar at 40A for anything bigger up to 12mm (quoted maximum on mine).

Some guys here tell me they always use there cutters at maximum.

Start to cut from one edge, or drill a 6mm start hole if you're cutting a piece out of the middle of a plate.

Place the tip on the metal and press the trigger to strike the arc.

You're looking for all of the waste (spatter, etc) to go down below the plate you're cutting. So if you get sparks coming over the plate then either your power is too low or you're moving the torch too fast and it hasn't time to burn through.

Be aware of the position of the torch hose, etc, I burnt mine second time I used it. Make sure it's up above the cutting area!

I use gas welding goggles about shade 4 but I've heard of people using sun-glasses.

I also like to wear gloves but some peole don't bother.

That's the basics, it's a case of find some scrap and play around with it.

On my sureweld the air pressure is set at the same no matter what current it's set at .
They don't use much pressure but a heck of a lot of CFM so if running it off a small compressor you'll have to keep stopping to let the tank fill.

what gas do you run yours on,

They run on compressed air Dean, ideally you need a compressor with a decent output if you're doing lots of work with it, if it's just smaller cuts on thinner metal then you can get by with less of a compressor but like I said, the tank will soon empty so you'll have to stop cutting until it's filled again.

i did think so its just some one told me its a mix of gas and air,

thats ok i have a 2hp 50 litre tank compressor that should be ok for what i use it for just got to get it going as i over worked it the other day and it got a bit hot

That'll work ok, just remember to stop cutting and let the tank fill when you hear the compressor cut in.

Hi Dean welcome to forum

I am also the proud owner of a LG 40 nice bit of kit. BUT it wont cut 12mm as they claim. Cuts any thing upto 6mm like a knife & it's fast, 8mm is blobby but ok if you allow a bit for grinding, 10mm is rough.

Mine came with a 2 pin euro plug so I replaced with 13amp, although the imput rating in the manual is 30 amps, and on the machine 24 amps?? The cable looks right for 32 amps, but I have used it up to full power, without blowing the 13 amp fuse?? (Are Chinese amps smaller than ours ? )

Both Peter & Wozzah's comments are about right, though I keep the pressure at about 3.5 bar - as changing it doesn't seem to make much difference.

I have got the crap manual, but don't know how to scan & send it to you.

Continental supply is 10amp for lighting, and 16amp for regular sockets. The fuse is located at the consumer unit hence no fusing in the plug itself.
