Regulator/Seperator size

My 45 cfm compressor has a 1" outlet.
Should I have a 1" Regulator/Seperator .?
I am thinking of the Norgren Olympian range for the Reg/Sep.
I am wondering if a smaller one would restrict the airflow to the Sandblaster.
Should the 1" pipe be taken up to the blaster for the same reason.?

Are you using 45cfm of air?
What size blasting nozzle are you using.

With compressors and hoses bigger is always better.
But flow will depends on the length of hose, air usage and amount you want to drop the pressure.
A 3/4 regulator will flow more than.enough air but an inch one will work as well. ( bit more expensive though)

I have a half inch bsp water seperator on my blast pot no regulator and its rated for 90 cfm and works no problem without loss of cfm what you will find though with any separator when the air warms up the water will turn humid and bypass it and condense further in to your pot till it gets warm

Thanks for the input guys,
This was the biggest compressor i could afford.
I think it will be a 3mm nozzle and lots of patience.
1 inch supply seems a logical route to go and play
With different mediums until a decent removal
Rate is achieved.

if your using a 3mm nozzle that comp will easily cope with it at 90 psi and cut out when you are using it my 28cfm does you will be very surprised at how quick you can strip stuff . rusty car wheels in no time at all even using kiln dried and that's fine

Bright spark beat me to it, but a 3mm nozzle will only need 8 to 10 HP and a standard regulator will run it fine.
You could go to 5mm and your compressor should still keep up.

It will depend on your compressor type and condition.
Also a smaller nozzle will do a lot less damage if you are blasting something delicate. (like steel body panels)

You also want your water separator around 18 feet away from the compressor as the hot air will eventually warm it up and it will stop working

I use 15mm bore pipe on mine and that's well adequate I use 3/4 on my larger pot and that's 90cfm with a 6mm jet

Thanks guys,
Any tips on paint for suspension components.
I had some professionally blasted and stove enamelled, they chipped very quickly.

I think a thin coat of some soft paint is best?
