Regulator not shutting off?

Hi all, i have just bought a mini clarke regulator to accept the disposables, as i may have to use disposables initially until i sort out a large bottle.

Anyway, the regulator my 160TM came with shuts off fine (With me blowing into it and shutting valve off) haha

But the one i bought for disposables wont close off and i can blow through it even with it on "zero"

Should this happen? I dont want to put it on the bottle if all the air is just going to pi55 out!!

Any ideas?

Does sound suspect. I'd connect it to the bottle, shut it off, test with soap suds.

I would have thought that if there's no pressure on the outlet the inlet & outlet should be connected together, it only shuts off when the outlet pressure equals the set pressure.

Just read the post again - yes if it's set to zero I guess it should shut off

Yes. You may have to turn it well past zero, though.

I've never found the disposable regulators much good. To prevent gas from leaking when you are not using the bottle just unscrew the bottle a few turns.

My disposable regulator (also clarke) is the same...blow through it and valve makes no difference...

I (think) and hope that the pressure in the bottle will be high enough to push the valve shut and allow it to operate properly...

Human puff is not sufficiently high enough in pressure !

Not checked the bottle since last week, hope it's still got some init . . .

Well i was being a biff, i think it opens the pin valve this on the dispoable when you wind it in, so the disposable didnt leak when shut off, However it did only last about 8 mins.....


what a joke, not enough to practice with....

However i just bought a 20litre bottle form energas in leicester and it is excellent, heavy though!!!

Used it today, well pleased.
