Regal 2 Pack Epoxy Floor Paint

Looking to see if anyone has used the above and would recommend it? I have read the various threads on the forum about what paint is best but can't make a decision on what one to use. Also, did you use the sealer (undercoat) and then a topcoat or just straight to the top?

Slab was poured a year ago so has had plenty time to cure but is pretty dusty so will give it a good clean prior to application. Keen to get the best paint for the job to do it once!

Before you do anything brush some watered down PVA over it, give it a couple of coats.

Johnstones gear is always good, the only thing I found to be lacking was there metal paint, not a patch on Rustoleum.

When I used to get Which magazine they did tests where they put painted window frames outside for years(10 springs to mind), Johnstones/Leyland paints were always at the top of the list.

I would say their floor paint will be very good but be prepared to cough when they quote you.

I was always told by painters that PVA is a fast road to peeling paint as it stops any subsequent paint properly adhesing

Mine's been done 18 years now and not peeled yet. If you don't seal the surface the dust will lift it.

i used the regal stuff, but only a couple of months back, so dont have any kind of longevity info for you. When i bought it about a year ago they only sold the one product, just recommended thinning it by 20% for the first coat. Doesnt go quite as far as they say, but does it ever?!?!!

Seems as good as any of the other stuff ive used.....

oh, and i sanded and hoovered the floor extensively before applying it, about 20 hours worth..... i dont ever want to have to do it again!!

Thanks for the info. I saw Johnstones have started doing it - will give them a call for a price but from what I can see online, it looks to be just under double that of Regal!

Might go with Regal and thin 20% for first coat. If I got 20L that would do the 2 coats whereas I would need 10L primer, 10L top which works out a fair bit dearer as you need to buy 5L tins!

I used Pegakote 2k it's good stuff for sure. Considered Regal at the time being about the cheapest 2k but in the end felt more comfortable getting Pegakote as I have never heard a bad word against it.

I used the cheapest 2 pack epoxy I could find on my Workshop floor. Slab was about 3 months old or so when I mopped it on...

I has been down 6-7 years (I forget how many exactly) no signs of lifting, no issues...

I didn't prime it just vacuumed and put down 2 coats.
