Recently I acquired a Boxford bench pillar drill off eBay. It was listed as a Bench drill in good condition, but when I came to collect it I got a bit of a shock. It was absolutely mahoosive (the bench drill that thinks it's a floorstanding drill) and weighed a ton (well, about 90kg at a guess).
But it was in good condition, apart from the work table. The drill has obviously come out of a school, as the amount of drill holes in the table just wasn't funny. It's not about to fall apart, but it is pretty unsightly.
Any idea what I could do to repair it? I've been thinking of filling the holes with JB Weld and sanding it, but it's not going to look original by a long shot. Would it be possible to fill the holes with weld and get it surface ground, or is that not realistic?
