Reese Receiver Tube Welded.

Here is one of the hundreds i have welded on over the last 30+ years. This one is with my Miller MM185 mig. It was welded thru 1/2" thick plate then the plate was welded to the existing hitch channel that had a bolted hitch there before. The wire was .035 Gas Fluxcore and CO2 gas. The part wasn't really crooked to the right the pic just looks that way...Bob

Prob should but i was showing off the mig weld so i put it under mig welders. Just my thought...Bob

Any reason why you used gas flux core? More penetration? What sort of amperage was that at? 0.035" is 0.9mm yeah?

Thanks. I used gas fluxcore just to play with it. Its like 2 or 3 times the price of mild steel wire so you aren't saving any money there and it uses more gas flow. So it was just refreshing to use something different like i at one time used at work when i was welding 3" thick plate. And yes it has lots more penetration esp with CO2 gas. And i don't know the amps but i didn't have my machine all the way up like i would have had it with regular steel wire...Bob
