Reducing Rings

Hello Every One
I have been trying on the internet to buy some reducing rings, I have bought a circular saw sharpening machine and would like to buy some reducing rings to be able to use diamond discs with a 22 mm bore suitable for angle grinders reduced to 10 mm for my new machine the discs are very thin about 1 mm thick , can any one point me in the right direction or even make some for me . Not 100% sure of the set up you have but AFAIK those thin discs are for cutting and I'm guessing the sharpening machine grinds the blade using the flat surface of the disc, this could cause a thin disc to fail and cause injury.

Depends on the machine, many cut downwards from the top and only use the edge to skim the surface and not the flat face.

Reducing rings are available from most saw blade suppliers.

Are you trying to sharpen the diamond disc ? If you are then it's not recommended

Check the speed of the disks and machine before you do anything.

I imagine the disks have different density of diamond for the given area....the proper one is more like a diamond file, finer grit and more of it...grinder cutting discs probably use coarser grit and less of it to prevent clogging....

Are You talking about the adapters that come with circular saw blades that can be used with a hand held circular saw?

All he wants is a spacer 22mm in diameter with a 10mm bore 1mm thick, people are going to stop posting on this forum if all they ever get in response to they're questions is nannying health and safety advice.

You might have to go 10 - 16 then 16 - 22 this was one of the first search results, I searched ebay for "22m to 10mm reducing ring"

Hello All
Thank you all for your replies, I have been sharpening tools for years , mainly carpenters chisels, planer and hand plane blades, knives any thing really , I have a Tormek water stone , very good.
Looking on the internet , you tube I saw an article to mount your angle grinder and make a wooden platform to sharpen circular saw blades it looked good but would take some time to make, plenty of fiddling , anyway I spotted the gude gss 400 #94217 circular saw sharpener , see demo's on youtube, it has a diamond disc and a stone for sharpening hss blades which has a 10 mm bore , presuming the diamond discs needed the same I hunted for them, failed to find any , and went looking for reducing rings , hence my request on the thread.
Now I have taken off the diamond disc and found there are washers / spacers that accommodate 22 mm id and 20 mm id with 100 mm discs , so my problem is solved .
I am sorry to have caused a bit of distress , Re. safety but you ca'nt stress safety too much , so it doesn't upset me.
By the way I have now sharpened 4 circular saw blades all TCT and they are looking good and apart from being a bit fiddly to set up [Each blade I did was a different size] once set up it was very quick and easy to sharpen the blades , blades from 90 mm to 400 mm with all different size bores. The diamond disc is made of steel so wont shatter like the fiber ones.
I know this is a bit long winded but thought an explanation was needed. Once again All the Best and Thank You. PS. The blade is fully enclosed with the guard. desmo11225
