RedNeck welding project

Needed something to go over swamp and snow while moose and deer hunting. 4 wheeler I have, just did not have something I was happy to pull behind over swamps and frozen snow.
After much thinking and lots of beer, I came up with this idea that old heating oil thanks, if helped by some square and round tubing did not have to end in landfill!
This is my last project; i am no professional welder... actually, I stated this project to learn stick welding but after a bad start, I've gone back to MIG. I thought myself welding... be indulgent as I am heading out to college night couse to become better.
Anyway, here is "the tub" as it was nickname. It was built out of an old oil tank cut in "L" shape and welded topgether after both end were put back together. "T" bars serve as gliders, square tubing as re enforcement and round tubing was used for the "thong". The thong has springs to soften the pull and pushes and it can rotate 360 to avoid snap off from the tow ball.

Again, this is not a how to show off.. I need to learn a lot moore about welding. Just posted for an idea to other rednecks outhere

Good job, nice bit of fab work there. Must admit to being a bit envious of the end use, moose and deer hunting. The best I could do where i live is chase a few squirrels around the back garden

Minimum spending, using what is around the place and you got an elegant result.

Two future uses for The Tub.

Find an idiot,get on a frozen lake on a windy day, drink beer, get the idiot in The Tub,tie a parachute on the front and go. I reckon a rudder could be worked to give a modicum of steering.

2nd use, place a small baby in it and send it downstream in the spring meltwater.

Dammit I should live in redneck country. Your climate would suit me, long days to go mad in the summer and make stuff for the winter, long nights in the winter to make stuff for the summer.

Years back I was interviewed for a job in Orkney, in January, I spent a few days bar hopping in Kirkwall. I was gutted not to get the post. Loved it.

Not a grandiose vehicle. Wife will not sit in it because oif the junk and the smell inside. Oh well, at least I don`t have to worry about who will get the truck. This is a picture with a set of horn from a moose I had taken and someone could not picture what 66.5 inches translated into in real life.
