Is a DC arc welder that much better than a AC one?
Justme
Now, it looks like Justme is very kindly sorting me out with a rectifier from a 120A machine, but just in case I blow these diodes (I could be going up to 140A, and this rectifier might not be over specced), would I, as I suspect need 140A diodes to rectify a 140A welding current
I ask, because electronics is full of surprises that are beyond me, and it wouldn't surprise me too much if the diodes need to be 70A, or there is some RMS factor to take into account, or something similarly obscure....
So should I have to make my own at some point... sizes?, diagrams? Oh, and smoothing capacitors?....
