Recommendations for metal chop saw ?

I bought an old (1984) Sealey branded variant of the ubiquitous 6x4 Bandsaw not so long ago.
A clean, some new cheap blade guide bearings, fresh oil in the worm drive & a tinker, and good to go.
Quiet, safe, will cut away & switch itself off, hardly any mess.
If I needed a saw for site work then OK- but for at home with neighbours, my 6x4 is much better.

What's do you think of building one , I have spare 9" grinder motors , or induction motors, machine a chunky precise hinge for it, base plate and clamp are pretty basic fabrication ?

What's the rpm on the cold cut blades ?

1425 I think for the carbide tipped blades, double for abrasive.

I have bought quite a bit of evolution kit in the last few month. It’s definitely at the cheaper end it’s not Mikita but it’s worked well for me. I have their all material mitre saw, their metal circulars saw and their mag drill. All good and affordable.

What do you think off the mag drill, I read there was a bit of play in them.
Quite like evolution stuff normally

I'm no expert I'm afraid....but steel blade metal cold cut saws run much slower than wood saws, & generally have some sort of vice to clamp the workpiece.
That looks like it might be an old (tidy make) wood chopping mitre saw.
I dare say someone who actually knows a lot more will give you a more definitive response.

Edit: there are multi-purpose saws like the Rage Evolution stuff, that run fast & use a special (carbide tipped?) high tooth per inch blade to allow the saw to cut mild steel, plastics, aluminium etc - but they are a compromise - and bloody loud & rowdy like the abrasive wheel metal saws (which are kinda like a 9" or 12" angry grinder but on a pivoting Stand )

I like the mag drill for the price but it runs a bit fast for large cutters like hole saws. It would be better if it had a two speed box.

A circular saw for metal has a rotation speed that is half that of an abrasive circular saw. District speed!

I've got a Dewalt TCT metal chop saw, it does a nice job but it is noisy. I have two blades and I drop them off for sharpening/tip replacement when I switch them. If you abuse them it's not difficult to damage tips, you need to let the saw do the work and not swing on it and make sure stuff is secure when cutting, it's not like a wood chop saw where you can get away with just holding it.
