Recommend me an extractor fan.

Hi folks,

In need of a through wall mount, or I suppose duct mount extractor for a workshop dealing with small engines, chainsaws, strimmers etc.

We tend not to run them for long in there but sometimes it's needed for diagnostic on the autotune stuff, or if it's chucking it down!

Ideally not from ebay/amazon but a decent supplier as it'll be the business buying it.

As always, any help much appreciated.

You need to be careful not to pull negatives pressures in a workshop if you have a boiler/ fire or similar. The term air changes in the space springs to mind, but I forget the correct terminology.

Broan made (and still does in a slightly different form) a classic kitchen fan IIRC 10" that wall mounted
behind the stove top, had a pull chain.
pulling the chain turned on the motor, and opened up the steel outside door.
Very simple and durable.

While I understand your need, even with an extractor it is likely that you will still breath some of these toxic carbon monoxide fumes.

Can you put a canopy for rain above at the entrance, so basically you are in the open.

So many variables. Ducting reduces airflow but also stops draughts.
How big an area do you need to extract from?
A small workshop you could use something like this
