Recommend me an electrician in York

Ex just rang up with a constantly tripping electrical issue (nothing to do with me!). I have previously advised her to have the electrics examined due to the previous owners extension with DIY wiring and badly labelled consumer unit.

Basically a relatively new iron popped its built in trip and since then, the main breaker (looks like an RCD) constantly trips whenever the washing machine (which is mid cycle) is switched back on. It does that even from different sockets in the house. I appreciate it might just be a damaged/worn RCD.

Anyhow, while I am sure I will get all sorts of very sensible advice I am not looking for (thanks in advance) what I would really like is a recommendation for a good known company or professional individual I can point her at to go and sort out the electrics. Based in York.

At a guess I would say its going to be the washing machine, normally the heater depending on where in the cycle it gets too

it 50 miles away if it had been about 20 id have gone and sorted it i love fault finding just been and sorted 3 out in the last few weeks. 1 live to earth fault and a neutral to earth fault on rings and a neutral fault on some lights ohh and a dodgy trip on an other

Thnaks @brightspark, she's going to have a professional look at it as we speak. I really wanted to get someone in a hurry but she's found a local.

I have investigated a number of issues there before, mostly trivial stuff like loose wiring connections, dodgy shed extension etc but I have repeatedly told her it needs a professional assessment.

Anyhow, it is a developing fault so while it could be a loose wire or dodgy connection, I don't think it can be a permanent wiring fault. It happened after an iron (with some sort of built in timer to switch itself off) "blew a fuse", I wonder if it is possible such a fault has damaged the main breaker or weakened it to the point it always wants to trip when there is no fault. Failing that, possibly an earth leak with worn/broken or waterlogged wiring which has become worse after the above incident. With DIY house wiring I have seen some horrors, mostly when people start "tapping into" lighting circuits!

It's one of those times I might investigate if I wasn't so far away but would still want to send in a qualified professional to deal with.
