Recommend me a mill plz

I had a centec 2a and would highly recommend it. Small but very sturdy and capable. The later ones have the knee adjusting handle at the front too. Imperial of course and nice solid square column.

Piero, i was in the same bind as you are, limited space, limited budget. I bought a Tom Senior as it was offered to me through an acquaintance. Its a good machine but a bit limited in the z-axis, but it makes up for this by being able to be used as a horizontal mill. Just something for you to consider, it depends on what work you want to do.

Having had a look at all the recommended mills.

Considering space. 240v etc etc the tom senior does fit the bill.

Was there a mk1 and or a mk2 model.

Are they all capable of vertical and horizontal milling

I changed to one of these (Elliot Omnimill) from a Boxford VM30 last year. Much more capacity, great machine, nice and solid, complete with quill, power feed, internal coolant, horizontal if needed??? Mine was 3-phase, so as suggested bought a couple of inverters. 1 for the vertical head and one for the table feed. Small footprint also if you re-postion the drive motor like I did......

Although some very nice mills have been mentioned.

A quick ebay search of sold items shows there is little in the way of spares. What spares are available everyone is fighting for them.

So my list of requirements needs has been updated to the mill needs to be popular enough to have sold plenty leaving spares ready available.

If you buy a decent mill, you'll probably not need many if any spares???? Older stuff was made to last, and the smaller stuff was generally used in schools and colleges, so suffered the odd table mark and cutter smash. They were hardly used compared to a jobbing shop machine would have had to work hard for its upkeep......................
Joys of having a mill and a lathe is you can, if needed make your own bits????
Its not my mill, I have one but not that one......

Ive a Tom Senior M1 for sale in your price bracket, with enough left to set up with some tooling etc.

Doesnt want for anything, so no need for parts.
