Recommend me a £100 smart phone which can take photos up close clearly.

I've got a Ulefone smartphone x12 or somesuch, as has my wife and daughter.

They're great all round phones, but don't do close detail photos.

Any ideas folks, it's for my father.

A young 83, who refers to any tablet as an iPad......

But, he needs sharp photos, up close.

No that's a "fanboi" slur. I think that the lifetime for support is generally greater than for things like LG 'phones and Android in general. The other point is that the fact that something is obsolete doesn't stop it doing exactly what it always has done. My ex engineer is still happily using his iPhone 6s and 'indoors is using an iPhone 8 equally happily. I'm using an iPhone 11 max which suits me just fine.

If you actually do mean "backed up" as in content, it is automatic and dead simple. Every iPhone account gets 5Gb of storage free of charge, but of course you can also offload it onto a PC etc should you want to.

I have not had any issues for years , also extra storage can be purchased in the apple cloud if required

This is the selling point of the Apple system and also the reason why Android fanbois deride them. Some of us just want it to do what we want it to do, easily, simply and safely. The walled garden aspect is an advantage to Apple users and not the negative that others may claim.

It is horses for courses, neither is "better" but they suit different people just like cars or any other product. There is no "one size fits all".

Try a cheap Honor X6b, says it does macro. My old 8x does them quite well.

apple phones seam to keep there price so android phones in comparsion are generaly half the price for the same spec of phone and you get a lot newer phone for your buck

just saying what i feel yeaers ago had a iphone 8 there or there abouts and the spec of it i sold it had money in my pocket and bought a phone with twice as good specs in android platform that worked just as well was a lot newer phone and work good for me

my other half is still on apple but shes a bit of a technophobe and has been used to apple stuff and gets on with them so dont want to change

I think that you can buy clip over macro lenses for many 'phones. Could that be an option? Macro lenses would be an unlikely standard specification for a budget 'phone.

it got to the stage i couldnt read small print often so s3 mini and s4 mini got used

as i also mess with pc computers i tend to use it on that score more

so take the photo upload it to pc and then i can really zoom in on the pic itself the small phone is ok but a pc is way better

these are s3 mini and im at a distance that is just right the issue starts when you need to stay still for the photo being taken

I get my refurb'ed phones from these peeps I've never had any problems with them, just be careful as some phones come without chargers.

My current phone is a Samsung A12, I purchased it from Backmarket about 8 months ago, it's not a modern phone by any standards, the model is about 6+ years old. Currently available for sale at £61.00
