Recommend a led security light

The cheapo halogen security floodlight out the back of the house has popped, it was one of the £12.99 ones and lasted for years. I want to replace it with one of the led type as they use less leccy. A good bright light would be great, the yard is about 30 feet long by the width of the house, i suppose 15 or 20 feet. What sort of watts would do the job without getting silly ?

Iv got 2 20watt ones down the side of my garage hook up on one pir sensor (bright white) there very good got them from screwfix

I bought a 50w warm white LED with PIR off eBay for £19.95 and put it about 3.5m up the wall. It lights the 45 foot garden up lovely. Only gripe I had was the very short lead on it - about half a meter long. I had to remove that anyway so no big deal.

I bought similar to Pete, again quite a short lead and if I remember they are soldered inside. The only issue I've had was when it was really cold it stayed on and wouldn't turn off.

I did buy a pack of 6 non PIR ones that have been brilliant. Crazy thing is we all forget that having a couple of halogens on is like running a kettle all night.

One thing you do notice like with Xenon/HID headlights there is a very definite cut off line with the light.

Yes I've heard this before, the LED interferes with the PIR and once on they don't go off again. I think they are better with a remote PIR.

buy one from screwfix there ok and reasonably priced with good warranty

just put a new one up on my garage above the door as the halogen units didnt last, £20 from homebase, cant remember the wattage but it lights up the drive and garden.
