Reciprocating Saw Blades

Anyone got any suggestions for quality reciprocating saw blades? Looking for good metal cutting blades to use for cutting suspension bolts which can be a real killer of blades but sometimes access is too limited to use anything else. If anyone has found a decent blade for that application I'd appreciate a heads up, thank you.

I think its the speed that kills them, even the cheapies last if you don't go berserk on the trigger. One blast at full speed will dull off a good quality blade.

Milwaukee Carbide Torch. A bit pricey compared to others but lasts ages and thick so don’t buckle when you bang the end of the blade.

As Bob said going too fast with blade speed just destroys the blades.

a bit of rocol cutting paste on them will real;y make them cut fast and blades last longer its just hardly anyone could be bothered to use it

Full size Dewalt saw, those Milwaukee ones look to be the business - they specify up to 13mm thick steel so I'll be within spec and if they last as they promise they should pay for themselves pretty quick. Buckling has been a problem as well, so the thicker blade should also help there. I'll slow down the cut speed and try a bit of cutting paste with some standard blades in the meantime, never thought of the paste before. Thanks all, great answers.

I do, even on hacksaw blades. Or Trefolex, Temaxol etc.

I’ve used Bosch blades & Screwfix own, both seem to last about the same time but Screwfix are half the price. Lidl blades are ok as well, especially at the price, some of them are marked “Swiss” grab them, i grab them if they come up in the bargain bin.

Another vote for Milwaukee Torch, brother has had loads of use out of them butchering rusty metal around the farm.

We have recip saws at work and it bugs the life out of me when I see idiot fitters taking a full pack of new blades to a job and blasting away at full speed, dry... I tell them but they won't listen

I just use old manual hacksaw blades & use the ends pieces which don’t tend to get used in hacksaw. Cut in half with a cutting disc, grind the worn ends to to suit your reciprocating saw holder. I tend to use Eclipse/Sandvik bi metal hacksaw blades

That's because they are idiot's

We use pretty much exclusively Bosch ones for cutting through stainless pipe.
Going too fast is usually the premature killer.

I just use old manual hacksaw blades & use the ends pieces which don’t tend to get used in hacksaw. Cut in half with a cutting disc, grind the worn ends to to suit your reciprocating saw holder. I tend to use Eclipse/Sandvik bi metal hacksaw blades

I do the same if the cheap ones aren’t in screwfix

Catching the end annoys the hell out of me, Iv seen so many people do it and typically when your down to the last blade

I use hacksaw blades in my cengarette and my old jigsaw, I prefer all hard blades unless I have to have a long wobbly thing
As long as the speed is kept down they cut well.

Another vote for Saxton here. Their bundle packs are ok a mixture of wood, metal and 'demolition' blades... To be honest by the time the recip saw comes out it's all pretty much demolition!

+1 for the expensive Milwaukee ones, they’re the business and take a few twattings on the end without kinking or buckling. Last for ages too.
Milwaukee used to do a range of cheaper blades as well that weren’t branded torch/axe/etc, don’t know if they are any good.
