Rechargeable battery disappointment

Well I haven't bought any in years.
Decided to restock.
I thought there would be all sorts of fancy lithium ion AA AAA D and C cells available.
But no. Exactly the same NiMh as I bought 15 to 20 years ago!
Talk about progress NOT!
Unless I am looking in the wrong place?

I have only seen the lithium ion disposable cell batteries in the states i dont think we get them in the uk yet, shame as they are supposed too store much better.

Because they are 3.7v each , would destroy every device ....if you put it in your remote toy or radio, charging is also different and liion are little firecrackers if not handled properly , thats why !

You can get disposable lithium cells here but as said 3.6v and the price would make your eyes water:

Nothing wrong with NiMh - used in hybrid cars and more environmentally friendly that Lithium. The reason why we don't see larger capacity NiMH cells is that a petrol company hold the patent and refused to allow licences to manufacture so we are limited to AAA, AA, C & D cells.
The US market Ford Escape has a battery pack made up of D cells !

NO, it just stupid to invest in technology that has compared to liion many drawbacks , loses charge quickly , low power density , low recharge capacity, capacity lost way quicker than liion ......

no one builds new products with that stuff it gone ....
