Getting to the point where I am ready to do the footings for the retaining wall for the barn. Trench is dug and the reinforcing mesh for the trench and the 12mm rebar for the vertical spaces in the 9" hollow blocks is being delivered on Saturday.
The mesh is being laid in the trench on chairs and I was going to put a 200mm 90° bend on the ends of the rebar and tie them to the mesh.
Can I use heavy duty cable ties instead of tying wire to join the rebar to the mesh? I imagine the join gets its strength from the concrete rather than the tying wire.
