Reasonable Assumption of flux core?

Is it a reasonable assumption to assume:

0.8mm flux core self shield wire puts down the same amount of metal as 0.6mm solid core?
Similarly, 0.9mm flux core self shield puts down the same (or thereabouts) amount of metal as 0.8mm solid wire?

Look up the datasheets from the manufacturers and it will tell you exactly what you want to know.

I think there are far too many variables involved to make a meaningful general statement. As ET wrote, the specs will tell the story.

You could compare the amount of metal per unit length but that ignores the different parameters needed to optimise each process, the potential iron content of the flux and the different loss due to spatter - amongst other things.
