It's going to get damaged hanging underneath if you go offroad, also reduces the departure angle,
best place for a winch imo is in such a spot to pull you out of the goo not further into it. obviously the best place for loading stuff
I had a standard towball on the front bumper of my 90 so I could use the winch to pull dead or damaged rally cars straight onto their trailer.
And could this not be one from behind? Got to be honest and say I like to be as far removed from the flight-path as possible if something gives. My point is the trailer is then attached to the rear of the rescue vehicle and towed not pushed but yes you can put a winch almost any place
Any winching operation should only be carried out by skilled/trained persons, in the past I have halted recoveries much to the annoyance of the spectators who want to get close to the "action" until they are a safe distance away.
I've seen all sorts of suicidal behaviour at Pay 'n Play days with muppets who haven't got a clue. Standing over wire winch ropes during recovery, winch lines being attached to normal towing eyes and Halfords tow ropes being used as tree strops![]()
And now time will tell how long it will hold....
Are not sure what you mean? Will try it when it gets a little warmer outside. If its is too weak, I will try to make it strongerHave you mounted the winch like it's shown in the first picture? as that would put the mounting bolts in shear when under load.
