Really helpful gas man

Went to swap my (not quite) empty argon light today. The chap convinced me that going to the next size up would be better. Yes slightly higher rental, but better value on the gas charge (nearly twice as much gas) and of course the same swappage charge for the cylinder, but less frequently. I know that this has been thrashed out many times before, but what was nice was that the chap let me keep the old bottle (off ticket) to use up all the gas and gave me a new one to swap to when it finally ran out. I won't say where or who as this is probably not 'policy'. But nice to know not everyone is out there to shaft you!

I shall weigh the spool at the end of the bottle to see if I can work out a rough ratio of wire to gas. Why? Dunno, seems like a good piece of data I guess.

i was desperate for gas one day and totterd off to my local air products place to bite the bullet and sign up.
turns out you cant have a cylinder the same day unless your a limited company or something along those lines. helpfull chap practically put his job on the line giving me a bottle the same day and trusting i was who i said i was
got the paper work though the post about a week later

Nice that the odd place still has a human side. Every time i change a bottle with BOC i feel as if i have been shafted..... again!

The local BOC agent was ever so helpful when I set my account up. Took about 10 mins to do the paperwork and even helped me load the cylinder into the car. ( He also gave me a few pointers about cylinder storage and transport ). Didn't seem a problem that I wasn't a company or anything, so it's a shame that for anything else welding related they are so expensive!!

My local place is good. Went to get filled and he asked me if I normally get a discount. Err, ummm.... He gave me a discount as i had it strapped to the back of the passenger seat where it could not fall down. Cost me $40 for a 125CF bottle Was near $70 the last time.
