Reach and wash type window cleaning

It's getting a pain dragging out extension ladders to clean the upstairs windows, so i've been having a look at a reach and wash jobber. Basically a brush on an extendable pole that plugs in to your hosepipe.

There seems to be two styles, cheap ebay generic ones of perhaps dubious quality..dunno. Then professional ones which are over budget for something that won't be getting used day in day out.
Something that sucks up some detergent would be good?

Has anyone got one they can recommend?

Ah, that may be why there is such a difference in price.

The “water” is also great for cleaning vehicles as it leaves no spots or streaks as it dries

was working at a guys house and he had an aray of filters and big tanks I just asked him what are they for im sure he said de ionised water for his reach and wash business and cost a fortune .I just said I bet u use tap water realy

I’ve been using a pole system after I fell out with the window cleaner who swore blind to me he’d cleaned all the windows, even though I was upstairs working and witnessed him only do half the downstairs windows.
I works well, I just use an oblong bucket with window wash in it, dunk the brush in, scrub the windows and frames then rinse. At first I ended up with a lot of streaks but then a mate who as window cleaning business showed me to create a sheet of water that runs down the window. It’s not perfect results now but it’s not far off and much better than my previous window cleaner does.
My mate gets his water from another company before he starts his day that is already filtered and as an additive too that gives better results.

BTW I’m in a soft water area

You can buy clear water from dispensers there is a few brands now.


You can make or buy a mobile washer unit bought they are near a grand.
Couple hundred to make one.

Brushes there is a huge array and spray combos.


Ps i do abseiling for a firm that does reach and wash we do the hard to reach windows.

On our windows, I use car wash shampoo & a car wash brush, then hose it off. Not perfect but good enough for me. It’s easy for me as I live in a bungalow though.

Just find a window cleaner. 15 quid once a month to do all the front windows

Deionised water or RO water the reach and wash system uses.

Why do those systems need fancy water?

Keeps me busy as it rots timber windows in short order.

Ordinary tap water is loaded with trace minerals and chemicals. It dries on the glass super quick and leaves trace deposits.

Deionised / de mineralised is "pure".

It rains every so often round here . . . done a perfectly adequate job on the windows in this house for the last ten years I've been here

Just leave them and after 6 months they don't get any worse, and when it rains heavily they actually get better.

AIUI, rainwater is 'pure'. It is the same as collecting the steam from your kettle and condensing it. Anything in the rainwater is environmental pollution picked up on its way down.

If you could collect it, it might be good for window washing. You would need a 'first flush' system.

To Welderpaul, deionised water is available in IBCs for about £175 upwards. If you can find a local place that makes it, and go around with empty containers and cash, you might have success.

What happens when it rains?

the rain drops all the dust and crap out of the sky and splatters the windows with it . NORMALY THE DAY AFTER YOU WASH AND POLISH THEM
