Rawplug hole saws

anyone use them?

I have a cheapo set of hole saws, no brand on them and crap on metal over about 1.5mm thick.

wanna upgrade to some decent holesaws as I use them quite a lot on all sorts of materials, wood plastic steel ally etc. looking through various sites and saw rawlplug make them and wickes are selling them individually.

I doubt they will be the same breed as starret but are they any good?

I use Bosch PowerChange ones, they're great.

I have been looking at them, I had a handful of bosh cutters nicked from work but they were in the shed when everything was nicked. also been looking at Makita ezychange too. all seem to be roughly the same price for the arbors and cutters

I only use the bosch ones and some old starrets that I have with teeth on them! I have recently however found that armeg do some for thin sheet that are excellent for the top of dis boards, they only do up to 3mm but are short and have a shoulder on them to stop you careering through and hitting something important!

Starret all the way, I've used all sorts from "quality" brands to cheapo, no name stuff and none of them are as good as Starret.

I like starret, used them in work and agree they are one of, if not, the best about. Nut they come with a price tag.

either looking at Makita ezychange or Bosch progress or, they both do the sizes I use regularly, both around the same price too.

Go with Starrett. No need for the easy change Bosch. Just use the starrett quick arbor.

where is best place to get starret? I'm not worried about quick change, I'm never in that much of a rush and rarely use more than one size at a time

Starret buddy...nothing else comes close. What sizes are you after as i have a rook of arbours and duplicate sizes i rarely use.

Yep, Starret all the way here. That reminds me, I need to order another 25mm.

I've got 5 or 6 new A10 arbors which are suitable for 32mm+ holesaws after an ordering mistake if you're interested.

buy the starret arbours and center drills and get the cheap hole saws from screwfix. i use em day in day out and there as good as the branded ones . cheap arbours are crap

is there no difference between the shape of the arbors then?

theres only 2 sizes of arbour the small screw on ones and the larger one with the locating pins that screw in to lock the cutter

both of them are ok its just the cheap arbours are not worth a light they buckle and snap easily

just ordered the 2 starrett arbors, one of every hole saw size I use now and a few others that I've wanted for a while. A lot cheaper than I was expecting, cheers for the recommendation

Try the morse master cobalt. I use them a lot and they seem very good quality.
