I have 250ml of 2K Black it was made up as Satin black( more like gloss black) .I have 250ml of paint ,now i want to add some matte agent to dull it what is the ratio of adding matte agent to get something near matt black/flat black
Would start around 30-40%, trial and error. With the satin, if sprayed heavyish wet it'll go towards gloss, if sprayed thin will go matt, so you can control it with the gun. I get the thing covered first, let that flash well and then the last coat is pretty thin, to get the matt or satin.
i painted this think last week but was not happy with paint supplier thinning the paint down ,i painted it in thin layers but the results looked like too much thinners and too high of pressure, it felt the p4oo sand paper i got this new paint and put it on heavy'ish but it never dried matte at all it were very glossy so i went back with the paint and he gave me a tin of agent to add but ...with what you said i could have made the mistakeon apllying too thick.
Could be, a guy on a bike forum had the exact same thing, and I've done it, got too impatient and squirted it on a bit thick.... goes shiney...
Like I've got this synthetic satin black, it'll go quite shiney satin if laid on wet but it's easy to make it go full matt too turning the mix down and squirting thinner coats.
i'd stick with satin, full matt is like a blackboard. marks up and is a ****** to clean off.
as said easy does it and put a couple of clean nuts in paint pot.swill it a round while spraying to keep the matt in paint suspended.
I painted a satin black car last year and found that anything over 50% matting agent wasnt good, I used 35%,
As Jaykay said it goes like a blackboard and marks very easily.
