Hi guys!
How do you rate my welds in the following picture?
The long weld is better than the welds around the tube as i got a lot of spatter because the tube is galvanised steel.
From the photos the long weld looks fine to me - nice and neat and a sensible size.
The square tube not so good. If you count the thicknesses of metal up you'll probably find you should have been on a higher power setting - you are trying to heat up much more metal than in the other weld.
Removing the galv before welding is always a good idea - reduces contamination but also reduces zinc fumes which can make you unwell (or dead in sufficient quantity).
