I've got 2 sets. A gearwrench / craftsman one which has had a pretty hard life (used where a ratchet shouldn't several times...... Let's not have that debate again) but it has stood up really well. No issues at all and tbh I would have no trouble putting all my "strength" into the ratchet if needed.
Also got a snap on set - they are nicer in the hand, no question, but they were also more expensive. They've got that serrated open end though which I find myself using quite often on suspension etc. and you can reverse the ratchet which you can't on the others (have to flip the spanner over). Also they are a lot longer which makes me think the mechanism is stronger.
So if I could get a SO set in budget I would; if not I'd look at the GW ones.
Even though halfords do a lifetime warranty, I think there's mixed reviews about how easy this is to claim? I've not claimed against the GW ones yet (never broken one!) so I don't know.

Whichever set you go for, always try to crack the nut / bolt loose first with a normal socket or spanner, then use the ratchet. They'll last a lot longer. Personally like Britool, Teng or Beta, mind you mine are ages old couldn't say if the're the same quality now. Bought some Halfrauds pro stuff, and found it ok.

I have the Teng set, I have been very impressed. They have been abused somewhat over the 12 years i have had them and i havent broken one.
I personally dont like the flexy head ones, only usefull a fraction of the time and a hinderance the rest.

I've used a Halfrauds one and had no complaints about it. The flexi head was quite stiff so it wasn't flapping around in the breeze but it could be bent if needed, perfect. I'd imagine they go quite floppy after a lot of use though.
Hazet make a set of ratchet spanners within your budget. I don't know what they're like nowdays but I've got an old Whitworth set and they're comparable to Snap-On IMO.
EDIT; The picture in that link shows 12 spanners but the description says it's a 6 piece set (8, 10, 12, 13, 17, 19). The most common sizes on metric fasteners but it is a lot of money for six spanners

I have several sets but the draper expert are slightly smaller, around the outer circumference than the halford ones, which incidentally seems to have got larger over the production years.
Both are good and would'nt be without them. I have maybe four sets of the halfords ones and they are good and never had to return one.

I have a set of Draper Expert X-Torq spanners, the two things I really like about these is ....
1) they are a bit longer than most others so plenty of leverage and they must be confident their ratchet is strong.
2) the twist in them means you have a flat surface to pull/push against rather than the normal thin edge, very comfortable.
And yes I have given them some abuse and they are all fine

That's unreal. It's worth that price if they get you through 2 jobs.
I didnt need them either as I have 2 halfords sets, but for £6 the grandson can play with them, cheaper than toys and twice the fun.

I got a set of halfrauds flex ratchet spanners and I've had them 10-12 years and they've stood up to hard graft about the farm...nothing broken at all
Kept telling myself to use normal tools to loosen nuts/bolts but forget most of the time. ....
If your head is a bit floppy,wrap it tight with insulating tape
