Raspberry Pi won't boot

I bought a Zero and I can't make it do anything.

I've formatted the SD to "FAT" (Whatever that means) which made it appear to only be 63mb, copied the latest version of "NooBs" onto it and it booted but came up with a window saying "waiting for SD card (partition settings)".

I then put it back in my laptop. Downloaded "Partition Wizard" and deleted the partition so I've got the full 4Gb (Well, 3.7Gb). I put NooBs back on it and...

It does nothing. Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Don't use the windows to format the sd card, it will mangle it. Get a proper SD formatter to format it or just burn on the Noobs iso.

Use a completely new sd card. The pi has sausaged two sectors on it and if mine are anything to go by, it wont ever work in a PI again, although it'll be useable in other devices. Its a design flaw.
I've got a big pot of them from over the years that can't be used in a Pi, that I keep for music in the car etc.

Edit, sorry, I read that as youve already had it working. In which case ignore the above. You've got that pleasure to come when you get it working eventually :-)

i prefer the memory stick type if you get a good one its really fast compared to the sd card

No need to format the card first, just write an ISO image direct to the card and it'll work in the Pi again, on Linux it's easy to do just use the "dd" command, no idea how you do that on windows, not had a windows computer for years

4GB is not big enough for the recent releases of NOOBS, you need 8GB.
You can load versions of NOOBS from about a year ago onto a 4GB card.

No need to format the card first, just write an ISO image direct to the card and it'll work in the Pi again, on Linux it's easy to do just use the "dd" command, no idea how you do that on windows, not had a windows computer for years

Win32 is recommended for imaging the SD card with Raspbian on a Windows PC.

I've not had that problem, I regularly format my SD cards with the latest version of Raspbian, I format with the application from the SD association and make sure that Allow Resizing is checked.
