I remember as an early teenager a machinist telling me to never trust the indexing marks on a jaw or vice of any cutting machine...always set them up in relation to the cutting blade with a small square. Ever since then its the 1st thing i do, even on cross cut wood saws that have adjustable grub screws on the pull over arms.
